- M.S. Environmental Science, UNT, Advisor: Dr. J. H. Kennedy
My current research interests include macroinvertebrate and aquatic plant relationships, aquatic ecosystem restoration, as well as the GIS mapping and change detection of aquatic macrophytes. My botany background includes being employed at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) Fort Worth, TX and currently for USACE Lewisville Aquatic Ecosystem Research Facility (LAERF) Lewisville, TX for the aquatic ecology / aquatic restoration team.
My thesis work with Dr. Kennedy is a partnership between UNT and LAERF and involves epiphytic macroinvertebrate colonization and secondary productivity associated with submersed native aquatic vegetation in a created wetland ecosystem which is undergoing restoration. The wetlands are a portion of the Dallas Floodway Extension Trinity River Project (DFE) Dallas, TX. The unique aspect of this evolving ecosystem adds interesting dimensions to this research. I hope to continue to be work as a biologist in the fields of stream ecology and aquatic restoration.
